The Boston College Baseball Spring Training Clinic offers a very unique opportunity for players to continue to improve their skills during the winter months using our state of the art facility known as “The Bubble.” Covering the entire football playing surface at Alumni Stadium, “The Bubble” allows a player to take advantage of over 120 yards of open space, including four full-length batting cages as well as space to set up two regulation size baseball diamonds. While the bubble is suitable to allow teams to scrimmage, this is an instructional based clinic so no games will take place.
This clinic will give players the chance to work with not only the Boston College baseball staff, but many of the top college coaches from the northeast from each of the three NCAA levels. Each station is led by a college baseball coach with a current or former Boston College baseball player to assist in teaching.
Position players will work out through a series of both offensive and defensives stations focusing on different skills at each.
Infielders will work on fundamental skills each night and move to a full ninety foot diamond workout. As the clinic progresses each player will have a chance to move around the infield and work with different college coaches. The coaches will work though a progression of drills touching on all the fundamentals of infield play. If a player wishes to work out a more than one position that option is available.
Catchers will work with a college coach to cover all the important skills needed to catch at a higher level. The catchers will do drill work, throw to bases and receive instruction while catching in the bullpen session.
Outfielders will run through a series of drills each night. The outfield station will instruct each player on the proper throwing mechanic from the outfield as well as the fundamentals of fielding groundballs and fly balls.
Pitching instruction will be offered. Pitchers will be take part in a progression of pitching drills that include but not limited to pitcher fielding practice, arm care, pre-game and post- game pitching routines and flat ground work. It is paramount to us that we focus on the health of the pitchers arms. Each player will have a chance to a light throw a bullpen with a college coach instructing. Pitchers do not throw to hitters.
Acceptance into a session will be on a first-come, first-served basis and a confirmation e-mail will be sent once the application and payment are received.
