The Bulldog Golf Camp is designed for golfers ages 8 - 18 that are looking for a competitive training environment. This camp is open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level, and/or gender. We will separate golfers by age and ability.  Campers will be taught proper techniques and mechanics in areas of putting, chipping, pitching, wedges and full swing. We will also teach how to efficiently practice, prepare for tournaments and the mental approach of the game. All activities will be arranged in a fun, safe and skill appropriate environment. The camp staff will include Matt Lewis (Men’s Golf Coach and PGA instructor), Leanne Smith (Women’s Golf Coach),  and current student athletes.

Matt Lewis is in his fourth season leading the Drake's men's golf program after being named head coach on July 26, 2011.

The Bulldogs undertook a challenging schedule this past season under Lewis as Drake routinely faced nationally ranked opponents on a weekly basis.

The Bulldogs responded with four top-10 finishes, including a season-best fourth-place effort at the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.

Sophomore Will McDonald continued his development as a player this past season, registering a team-low 75.2 scoring average in the spring en route to collecting Drake’s top finish in five of six spring tournaments. He capped his campaign finishing tied for 18th at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship to earn top-18 flag honors.

As a team, the Bulldogs garnered a seventh-place showing at the MVC Championship with a 919 (318-293-308=919) scorecard.

 

 

 

 

 

Leanne SmithLeanne Smith is in her fifth season as head women's golf coach for the Bulldogs after serving as an assistant coach with the Drake men's and women's golf programs

from 2006-10.

Smith was challenged during the 2013-14 campaign as Drake was beset with five players missing a combined 20 rounds due to injury or illness. Senior Hadley Jenningsand junior Danielle Brooks were the lone Bulldogs to compete in all 10 tournaments for Drake.

Jennings sparked the Bulldogs to top-10 finishes in five of 10 tournaments this past season on the strength of a team-low 78.3 scoring average. Freshman Arianna Gastelum was nearly as impressive registering a 79.1 scoring average.

Gastelum and Jennings each carded 226 scorecards at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship to finish tied for 11th to earn top-18 flag accolades. The duo directed the short-handed Bulldogs to a 934 (305-311-318) scorecard at tournament.
