June 26th will be the date of the Discus Camp hosted by the University of Nevada. The camp will be very beneficial for throwers of any age male or female. Listed below is quick overview of the clinic and the topics that will be covered. All drills will be demonstrated by staff or members of the University of Nevada Track and Field team. Campers will be given the opportunity to perform drills while being critiqued by staff members. At the end of the clinic, each campers will receive a booklet with detailed descriptions of every drill performed during the clinic so they can incorporate them into their training to become a better thrower.
9:15am-9:45am--Throw Specific Warm-Up
9:45am-10:00am—Water Break/Training Theory discussion.
10:00am-10:45am—Med Ball Drills
10:45am-11:00am-- Water Break/Training Theory discussion.
11:00am-11:30am—Technique. Getting into the Power Position.
Scott Williamson will be conducting this clinic as well as members of the University of Nevada Track and Field team. Scott is the current Associate Head Track and Field coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Nevada where he works with all field event athletes. He has 15 years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division 1 level with the last 7 years coaching at Nevada. Coach Williamson is also a USATF Level 1 & 2 certified coach as well as being certifed by the USTFCCCA.
All of our camps and clinics are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, and/or grade level).
This Camp is free to any child who is eligible to participate and is a child of a Nevada Athletics Employee.
